A couple of years ago, my friend showed me her blank moleskin that she converted into a calendar. Ever since then, I’ve been in love with moleskin notebooks (Barnes and Noble). They’re simple, clean, lightweight, and can be used for a variety of things.
I made one to keep track of daily expenses. After each purchase, the receipt is kept with the moleskin.
Every couple of days, I go through the receipts and mark the amount under the corresponding day.
I check online and when the transaction clears, I highlight the purchase. I once went to a restaurant and later found out they overcharged me by $10. If it’s only a couple of dollars, you might not notice it when you skim through your monthly statements. By highlighting each purchase, I can make sure every transaction is correct.
Yes, I could use my calendar app on my phone, the calendar program on my computer, buy a premade calendar, or use an excel spreadsheet. Why don’t I do any of these things instead?? It’s the old-fashion part of me that still loves using pen and paper. I would much rather keep a handwritten journal or a planner than to use my computer or phone. Also, I can make it look any way I want with my pens and markers. I know some of you artsy people out there can relate. =)

there’s an iPhone app for that. but still creative nonetheless.
I’m so with you … I love the pen and paper!
Haha, my moleskin just stores ideas & sketches now.
& I’ve begun to use gouache (water-based paint) instead of pens.
I’ve been on the computer for so long that I don’t know how to write anymore.
